Default Family Day Care-how does it work?

    Hi
Someone suggested to me the possibility of starting /running my own family daycare instead of going back to work as I have a 6 mnth old now. I was wondering if anyone has/does do that and can tell me how you go about getting more information (or can give me a bit of info themselves too would be helpful) and who/where to contact to set up in SA? Can you just start your own sort of as a business or do you need to go through a particular channel, like a govt dept? I'm confused as to how it works
    Thanks :-)

Im not sure about SA but I know in WA you need to be qualified and have your home meet a bunch of standards and checks with licencing. You need to follow regulations and can only have a certain amount of children in your care, need to keep ALL paperwork for years after the child leaves your care etc. etc. Its alot of hard work...not just as easy as getting a business name and allowing a few kids to come into your care at home.

I just google home day care SA and some points came up. You need a cert 3 in child services ( which you may have).
