I am trying to work out my budget as a single parent of 2 (aged 8 months and 5.5 years). I am trying to be 'self sufficient' as I won't be able to rely on my ex at all and being on centrelink is not comfortable for me (no judgement please, it's not helpful). I have been self employed for a few years, managed to keep the family home but have a significant mortgage. I have been given a 2 day per week contract which will be equivalent to a whole weeks pay so I can't turn it down. I also have a flatmate and I declare this as income. Going on the centrelink website I am confused as to whether I will receive any assistance from the government (ie reduced daycare fees, a pension card etc.). If I was earning $75,000 per year with 100% care of the children will I receive anything? (This is a conservative estimate as I really don't wish to work more than 2-3 days given the age of my youngest).
Thanks for your help!
