Default What did labour (contractions) feel like to you?

It hurt more when they were massaging my belly to stop the bleeding. I'm fairly brown all over but I had huge blue bruises both times on my stomach the day after.

I had to be massaged plus injection as I was bleeding lots - lost 1L the first time and 800mL the next.

This exactly! What a waste of my money that course was.

But I'm sure being bed bound with fetal monitoring didn't help. I couldn't escape or get in to better positions during contractions.

Yes! Same same. I said "f---k this Calmbirth sh--. This isn't waves or surges it effing hurts!!!!". That was labour 1 where I was stuck on a bed with CFM and a syntocin drip.

As for labour 2, I can't explain what the contractions felt like. It was just overwhelming agonising pain down low in my abdomen plus a backache. The urge to push was described as throwing up through your bum, which is exactly what it felt like.

At first just like braxton hicks, like a tight, clamping, period pain across my front from hip to hip. Then it was just an increased version of that on and on until it moved to my back. And that was HECTIC. I truly wouldn't say that it hurt, more that it was intense and overwhelming. It felt like my hips/back were going to fall apart or something. I honestly don't know how to describe it any better than that!

Mine were like Braxton hicks and kinda like awful awful period pain at the same time, once my waters broke it was all on!
My first DS, I was 20 and screamed like a banchee!
    The last 2, 2011 & 2012, I barely made a noise!

I had all the pain in my back. My back would ache during a contraction. It was excruciating.

Hi, we are good thanks for asking! Second very unsettled night waiting for my milk to come in so hoping to catch up on sleep today but loving having little DD home and seeing her little face (and am currently listening to her little farts).

Once I finally felt something (at 8cm) I think that I went into shock because I went from feeling absolutely nothing to suddenly having extremely full on contractions leading up to transition. They were like someone was tightening a belt around me, to the point that it felt like I was about to be cut in half. That's probably the best way that I can describe them. When it came to being ready to push, I felt an extreme urge to poo and kept trying to sit on the toilet only to have my midwife in the end screaming at me that I would indeed birth my baby in the toilet if I stayed on there lol, kinda funny to think back on.
