Question What did labour (contractions) feel like to you?

What did labour (contractions) feel like to you?

For me the contractions felt like big waves of tremendous power washing over my body and like I had to hold onto something or I'd be washed away.

All my hypno birthing classes hope and dreams went out the window in the first hour of contractions. It was like "whoever thinks you can breathe and relax through this is F***ing MAD"

Felt like huge pressure and that something was trying to explode out of me and I had to ride these death waves of pain.

    Lol elasti girl.

Hypnobirthing did nothing for me in terms of pain reduction but did help me stay relaxed. Which just meant the midwife refused to believe I was in labour lol.

All my labour pain is in the back yet I've never had a posterior labour.

I think the phrase I used after the hypnobirthing attempt was that it felt like I'd 'entered the vortex of hell'

Really horribly intense tightening through my back. I didn't really have any front pain and bub was not posterior. I still have a scar in the middle of my lower back from being under constant hot water and having DH rubbing there! I also did calm birth and heard about painless 'surges'... Yeah right!!! I did get through completely drug free though as I didn't let the pain overwhelm me, I just had the mentality to ride it out and that was all I could do.

Exactly this for me and in the end I had this feeling in my front as well as my back.
