Default Did I do the wrong thing?

You didn't do anything wrong and you weren't to know that he was lying to his gf.

That's their battle to sort out.

Nope you are defiantly not in the wrong! She should be smarter then that honestly and it was immature for her to go after it while they are out! Gah!

Thanks ladies, I started to doubt myself but I should be strong enough to say that I'm not covering for your bull**** (now that I know he was lieing to her), although I should have known since he did the same thing to his last g/f.
We have also just found out that he and g/f have gone out tonight with friends we introduced to them, that he said he didn't like, without an invite for us.
Whatev's, these are all dp's friends so I don't care but it feel bad for him as obviously the friendship doesn't mean much to this guy and they have been friends for nearly 15 yrs.

Not your problem, you have done nothing wrong, if he is lying to her that's his issue to deal with, it's unfortunate but the messenger is always going to get shot! In my experience of course! I hope it doesn't damage the relationship...
    I agree!

You didn't do anything wrong. It was just passing conversation, how could you know he was lying to his partner? It's also not your job to cover for him, he sounds like a moron.

Its like guys who get caught out cheating and blame the person who told the partner.

Silly boys think they're so clever. Tisk tisk to him.

You weren't to know he had lied to her. His fault entirely.

thats what I was thinking .. its one thing to tell her .. but she really should have waited till after the BBQ to confront him ... that would have made everything awkward for everyone, and its not everyone's issue.

eta - I found my husband doing the same thing (moron) he would finish work early and go to a mates place .. one day I did a drive by and saw his car... I rang him - he openly lied to me on the phone that he was at work ... we ended up in marriage therapy .. men can be arses ...
