    I agree with this.
I do not like door knockers or cold callers of any type. This is my home not a shop or public area. if I wanted information, products , to donate to charity etc etc I would seek out the information myself. in these times when most people have the Internet and phones then its simply not necessary to 'spread the word' by disturbing my peace.

It read along the line of..
"DO NOT KNOCK I HAVE A SLEEPING BABY! PLEASE DO NOT WAKE HER"
Didn't work.. People just started yelling at the front door " HELLO" with little frequent taps on the glass panels of the front door.
    Use to infuriate me.
I did the same thing once when DD was sick. It kept them away. But I think we're in some do not approach list now because a few of them have run away in horror after knocking on our non-see-through screen door only to have my huge and slightly aggressive dog hurl himself at it growling. They can't see him but they sure can hear him!!

With JW's, just ask to be placed on the 'do not call' list and they won't bother you again unless you move and then you'll need to ask again as they put the house on the do not call list, not you personally.

My interpretation is that they are trying to sell me their religion.
At this household they have got more chance of selling ice to eskimos.
