I would highly recommed miele from personal experience. Here is a good source for vacuum cleaner reviews if you need additional info.
I agree that its really confusing to decide a good quality vaccum among the hundreds available in the market. From my personal experience i would like to recommend you to try a BISSELL ZING BAGLESS CANISTER VACUUM, CARIBBEAN BLUE. It a bagless vac but equipped with washable and replaceable bags.It has a automatic retracing cord which makes it flexible for much needed cleaning. Its light weight makes it ideal for anyone in the home to use.Hope this helps...
I had a miele ... but got a dyson 3yrs ago and would never go back to a miele ... loooooove my dyson!
If u have the money a Dyson cordless for daily clean plus something better for bigger cleaning the cordless is amazing and better than many full sized vacuums but my sauber is still better again. It's awesome though quickly running about with no cords, I fill the canister every day....can even carry a toddler on hip and vacuum easily. Dysons are great for the price esp say the entry models are heaps better than many others in that price range but there are better vacuums out there in the upper end of price ....
We have a Hoover Vogue and it's fantastic, picks up sooo much we have to empty it after every room!
