Yes, the Miele and Dyson are both quite light. I'm not sure how long the cord is but I do know that mine are exactly the same length as each other (I counted the times it coiled around my hand and elbow!).

ETA: I found Product Review really helpful, as well as Choice (who awarded Miele the best vacuum cleaner brand across the board).

The cord on my Miele is a decent length, I can get through most of house without needing to re-plug (keeping in mind I live in a small house) but not sure how it compares to other vacuums.
I wouldn't say it is heavy or very lightweight, there is a bit of weight to it but I can still move it around without too much effort.
I would go in store and have a look to see if it meets your needs, it is a great brand of vacuum.

My mum has also replaced a dyson with Miele and I use Miele as well, excellent vacuum.

I've always had a Miele (well, I did when I was with my ex, and I'm hoping to get one when I move into my own place this month). I've tried a Dyson, and frankly I thought it performed poorly. Miele vacuums are awesome.

Only thing I hate about Miele is bags! Once I pay for a vacuum I don't want to pay for bags that's the only reason why i would choose a dyson is the upkeep costs!

I used to love my dyson, but now I love ROBOKING! Because I dont have to actually vacuum (DH does real vacuuming but roboking does daily run) even if it does fall down the stair on occasion'

    I love you roboking

Oh my god dyson is the best! Feel like anyone who thinks otherwise must have a faulty one! Their suction is amazing!
