    Default Is Premature Birth Hereditary?

My partner was born at 30 weeks, and both his parents were premature too, is it something that can be passed down or is it just bad luck?

    Default Is Premature Birth Hereditary?

That's relieving cos I heard of all the things he went through with his lungs and I think I would go crazy if my baby went through that, he still has his scars. I wasn't premmie, but seeming as his parents and his four brothers were too its a little daunting.

    Default Is Premature Birth Hereditary?

Not here. My mother had trouble with her blood pressure in pregnancy and had my brother at 35 weeks and then was in hospital with myself for weeks to get to 38 weeks.
Also my father's mother had GD.

This is all opposed to me, who in 4 pregnancies has not had any GD and my blood pressure is perfect. My first 3 babies were over due or term and this baby is at 36 weeks.!

    Default Is Premature Birth Hereditary?

Preterm birth on its own is not hereditary, but as pp mentions some conditions which can lead to preterm birth can be. But, that would be with the mother I would presume.

Me and my sisters were all term or overdue and I had a 25 weeker which was pure bad luck.
