Probably not much help now, but i had DS at Armadale 8yrs ago and it was fine...mind you, this was when the private side (Galliers) was still open, I think its closed now.

ETA...now im not half asleep: I was a public patient. My friend had her baby over at the private side a year earlier than I had DS and we had the same treatment really. Food was the same too which was awesome.

Im booked into Galliers for this bub due in feb. The birthing suites are closed but the actual ward still operates. All this means is you birth on the public side & then go over to the private ward when youre done. This for me is a positive as i will be treated publicly for the birth (less intervention) but still get the benefits of private. I also get the option of having a water birth!!
I know of friends that have gone public & private at Armadale in the last few years & am yet to hear any negatives.
    Good luck

I had my DS at AKMH Dec 2010. I was booked into Galliers as a GP own patient and went there for all my check ups. The staff were lovely. When my pregnancy took some unexpected twists, I had to have a c section and they put me in Maud Bella's (public) just Incase bub needed intervention. Lucky they did or we would have been on opposite sides of the hospital. It was hard enough being in different rooms down the corridor. My only complaint was I had a lot of ghost staff as it was Xmas eve, Xmas day onwards and felt like I was forgotten on numerous occasions. But I am going to Maud Bella's again this time as every time I've been up there for assistance they have been great. My sister has worked on both as a nurse an said if she had to choose between the two the only differentiating factor was the option of water birth :-D
