Default Hcg levels elevated but not pregnant.

    Hi everyone.

I'm a little confused so just looking for some answers.

The other day I post about a pos hpt - i have the mirena (so it was a suprise/shock!) I went drs and he did a urine test, which came up pos, so had a blood test and got my results today which indicate I'm not pregnant.

My hcg levels are 2.5 - dr said levels should be atleast 5.
Dr said he was surprised that I wasn't actually pregnant, as my urine test came up pos relatively fast.

Anyway, he said I could be pregnant, but not properly, and it will pass? - I'm thinking me means like a chemical pregnancy?

Can someone shed some light on my situation please? I'm feeling very confused lol

    Thanks xxx

Hi there. I'm sorry that your hcg numbers aren't strong. Yes it definitely sounds lime a chemical to me. Your levels are probably on the way down which is why you had positive tests yet a negative blood text. Is your dr giving you a repeat blood test?

Thanks no repeat blood test :/

Should I be expecting my "period" or bleeding shortly? (I don't normally get my period with the mirena)

Yes you should get your period when the levels go back down to 0. If that doesn't happen within the next 3-5 days you should go back for a repeat BT to make sure a) your levels haven't gone up b) to rule out an ectopic. It is a good sign that something has happened though. Hopefully next month x

Oh sorry. I just read you have the merina, so I guess you're not hoping to be pregnant. Did the doc have any answers to why you would have become pregnant with it?

I wouldn't mind either way (planning on ttc again in may)
Nope, just said that 1 in 10,000 can get pregnant as no contraception is 100% effective.
I may test in a week again and see if any changes..
