Default Why do doctors have to be so rude!!!! - vent

Did he at least refer you on? To a gyno, to get bloods, to get an ultrasound? It could be anything but never something to ignore, the pain is coming from something, whether it be simple ovulation pain or to endometriosis or other.

I had a look at her screen and said, "Are you seriously googling this?" She looked at me like I was the crazy one and said, "Yes I am". I was in shock! Once I recovered I told her that she was pretty much an idiot and to give me a script for Zofran. Then she said, "I don't know which one that is" and proceeded to GOOGLE it!! Needles to say I walked out on her after asking where on this planet she managed to get her medical licence!!!
This is actually common, most dr's I've been to look up meds, side effects etc. new drugs are always on the market and they can't memorise every single medication for every single illness, it's better when they at least research something for you then just give the same meds to everyone (if that makes sense)

Yes but they usually consult a medical manual, not google, which, let's face it is hardly an authority.

Oh I totally get that there are many medications out there but last year I easily saw over 20 different doctors/specialists while TTC and not one of them used google as they very clearly knew what they were talking about. My family GP doesn't need to google either. Honestly, no disrespect, but I would be changing doctors quick smart if I saw a doctor who needed to google symptoms and meds to treat me especially something as simple as morning sickness.

Hmm my dr's have a computer and Internet, you can find the info on meds online from the pharmaceutical companies. I don't think it's fake, google just takes you to their websites you know? I guess every dr is different then.

Naw yeah got a referral for ultrasound and bloods at least. Thought was I going crazy and of course didn't have any pain at the appointment!!

I work in the maternity unit at the hospital so at least know plenty of gynae's if I need a referral.

Was thinking of trying Family planning Queensland when they open back up.... Anyone had a good experience with them?

    That is crazy!
I could understand if there was a private, accredited website with a search engine for Doctors only that had only correct info as a replacement for their medical journals, but google!? Not cool!

Probably not in the same town as you but I've used family planning when I was younger to find the right contraceptive pill as most made me feel like cr8p. They were very helpful.

I can beat the google story. I took my son to a dr as believed my son had a milk allergy and was trying to determine what formula he could use and wanted a referral for allergy testing to confirm that he had one. So I explained the why etc and the dr was quiet, then turned the monitor to show me about milk allergies and I see he'd been looking it up on Wikipedia!
Needless to say I noted his name down and will never see him again.

My doctor uses something like that but I think it's actually built into the computer system so when she looks things up it's usually to show me something not because she doesn't know. But why pay $70 for it to just be googled, I can do that myself!

Shouldn't a doctor know about allergies!! Wikipedia is hardly a reputable source of information either, I would have been peeved!!
