Default What are the strangest things your relatives do?

Washing and reusing if alfoil / glad wrap. Watering down of liquid soap, to the point that it's so runny you have to be ready to rub it in straight away, or it'll run through your fingers!

My dad thinks something is going to happen to all the banks and no one will be able to get their money so he has bought gold and silver bars (can't think of their actual name) and keeps them in a safe bolted to their bedroom floor. That is his latest crazy idea

MIL used to freeze leftover chips wrapped up in their paper after we had had fish and chips for dinner and eat them later. So gross.

I see your plastic containers and CMF's Glass Jars and raise you.. Plastic bags! Not woolies ones for rubbish either.

My Grandmother was born in 1911 so grew up and was being trained/became a housewife in the depression years. Plastic bags to put food in weren't easily available So She would wash plastic bags that baking goods came in (I always remember Brown sugar being one example) Wash them with her clothes, in a machine you had to wring out with rollers btw, And peg them on the clothes line.

We would give her tins of biscuits for Christmas and she would keep the little papers that separated the biscuits and sue them whens he refilled them with home cooked biscuits and re-gifted them.

In my post I actually was referring to her house, but come to think of it she did used to do it at my house. I'd get home from work and she's say "oh I just moved xyz over to here because I thought it would be better, but you can move it back if you don't like it". *sigh* LOL.

My nan use to take teaspoons from coffee shops every time she went out for a coffee!!!

She'd say that they give them to her with a hot drink so they were therefore hers. Strange justification!!!

    Loved nan
