I have heard of it happening. Good luck with the doctor.
hope the doctors appt went well. Unfortunately the only way to guarantee not falling pregnant is abstinence, there are stories of pregnancy even with "sterilization". Hope things work out for you op.
My dh thought the withdrawal method was effective contraception :-( and I don't want to risk falling pregnant so wasn't willing to play with fire.
The mirena was going to be my replacement as neither of us like condoms. I suppose the mirena is a "risk we might need to take".
I'm very interested to know if you are pregnant, will be watching this thread.
no the mirena cannot give you a false posative.
the POAS pregnancy test (as with a blood test) tests for the hormone HCG in your urine (or blood). This hormone is ONLY produced in women who are pregnant.
The mirena does release hormones, but not HCG and not anything that would give a false positive on a pregnancy test. [False positives on preg tests are indeed rare, if you get a positive its because you have HCG ... if you then get your period its often becuase of a chemical pregnancy (ie your body thinks you are pregnant and produces HCG) or a very early miscarriage]
I have heard of people who have fallen pregnant with a mirena though ... so that is a possibility.
Thanks everyone... Dr did a urine test and it came up pos! (So I'm not loosing it lol)
Already had my bloods done, go back 10.30 tomorrow to get results.
He said 1 in 10,000 will fall pregnant with the mirena (lucky me I guess!)
Like the other have said, i have heard that this can happen goodluck!
Wow! I hope that you are on with this and I would go buy a lottery ticket

Hi everyone, I got my blood test results today that indicate that I'm NOT pregnant... My levels were only 2.5, (dr said someone who is 1wk lvls should be at least 5)
Dr was actually surprised that I wasn't, he said that my urine test came up a fast and clear pos. so that did detect the levels.
So for some reason I do have some of the hormone level but not enough. I will be starting another thread to find some answers.
Dr said I could still possibly be, but its not a "real" pregnancy :/
