Default What suburbs to live in perth?

    Hi everyone,

I thought I would post my thread and get your opinions on what suburb to live in Perth, pref NOR.
We have 2 young kids, we are looking at, moving over in few months, we want somewhere nice, safe and more for your money? We want to buy a house. :-)

I was thinking ellenbrook? As housing is very nice and its affordable.
But is the area good!? What am I missing here?
We love the beach too, so looked at mindarie, can anyone shed some light on these suburbs? If you have any other places/suburbs to suggest this would b much appreciated.

Thank you all for your help in advance.

    Shivonne

Ellenbrook is a long way from the city, and miles from the beach.
Mindarie is lovely but generally expensive.

Affordable, NOR, more central and near the beach - try Duncraig, Warwick, Hamersley. Some older houses (say 70's/80's) but with big blocks, pools, schools, parks etc.

I'm in Innaloo - it's a great area but houses are generally knocked down for development so might not fit your bill.

    Good luck.

    Thanks hulahoop,

I'm actually looking for places that we can build our own home in, can duncraig or mindarie allow that there? We are looking at building a house for around 450,000k. At 4 by 2.
Can you give me some advice on this, with a pool of course :-)

If your total budget is $450k including the land, I doubt you will get Mindarie. It's lovely but expensive.

I agree with PP on Duncraig, Warwick etc Otherwise a little bit further north you have newer suburbs like Butler. Check out the maps for all around those areas, generally pretty good for kids, close to beach, newer etc

The beauty of Perth is that you aren't too far away from city up there either, since the traffic is nothing like Melb/Syd. I wish I still lived in Perth.

I don't I want to be too far out, butler seems very far fr us. :-\

We definatley need a pool though...

Is there any newer estates in duncraig? Or around that area? What about Quinn rocks?

Sorry happy to help but will have to be a bit later.
Quinns Rocks is the old estate north of Mindarie, I doubt you would get either of these for the 480 mark but would be happy for you to prove me wrong. The inland side of Marmion Avenue is not Mindarie or Quinns as far as I know, so check carefully.

As I said, will be back to you later.

Let me know if you can get the whole package for $480k in Mindarie on the beach side of Marmion Ave - I'd consider moving back myself

I dot think Duncraig has 'new' estates, but there could be random vacant blocks you could buy.

Butler is further out, but it's only about 5-10mins max and would probably have more chance getting a pool for that price too maybe?

Yes it's definitely further 'north', but much closer to the beach.

A suburb that would be about the same distance as Ellensbrook but very close to beach is Joondalup.
