Default Should I buy them a gift for helping me in the selling of my home.

We put our house on the market just a few months ago and were really blessed to sell it very quickly.
Now we have bought a beautiful home and everything has gone smoothly.

Just prior to putting our house on the market I asked some friends of ours if we could borrow a painting (that my friend painted) just to display in the house.
The painting was of a famous landmark in our area and I thought it would help present one of our rooms.
Our friends were kind enough to tell us to keep the painting and also blessed us with three other paintings. As they couldn't sell them in a recent Art Exhibition they thought we may like them(they were all paintings of famous landmarks in our area. They gave them to as a gift.

I thanked them when we gave them to us...But should I send them a gift or a note just to let them know how house sold..or should I just leave it and tell them next time I see them. I only get to see them once in a while though.

I didn't think it was necessary to thank them again or send them a gift..after all it was a gift..But my mum thinks I should send them a gift?

Am I selfish in thinking that I dont need to?

    What would you do?

I don't think you need to send a gift but would send a note saying that the house sold.

Maybe wait until you're in your new home and then your note can say thank you we sold blah blah blah and the pictures continue to look amazing in our new house, the xxx pic is proudly displayed in the living area etc

I would probably do this. I dont think you need to give them anything in return, you only asked to borrow the paintings and they were ones they didnt sell anyway. But thanking them again will let them know you really appreciate them!

OP, which is it? Are you the friend borrowing the painting or the person lending the painting?
