Default Re: This is what I ate today...

When I'm trying to lose weight I cut right back on the carbs and eat more protein and fresh fruit and veg and I have a handful of nuts (not peanuts) for a snack.

I also drink a large glass of water before each meal so I don't eat as much.

For example for breakie I'd have 2 eggs and some lean short cut bacon with some avocado and a piece of fruit.

Lunch would be either steamed veggies or salad with fish or chicken.

Dinner would be a lean steak or chicken breast with steamed veg or salad.

I did follow the paleo diet for a while and lost a ton of weight but I do find it a bit restrictive and it's not really practical now as dp is a type 1 diabetic so he needs carbs.

    Hope this helps

I have cut out all bread, potatoes and junk food completely - and boy it was hard.

I don't exercise or rarely go for walks - my main exercise is housework and running around after 3 kids.

I eat 3 eggs for breakfast, with coffee and a piece of fruit.

Lunch - salad with chicken and a tub of lite yought.

Afternoon snack - choice of fruit OR lite cruskit biscuits

Tea - Omelette with salad OR vegies with meat ... OR vice versa

Dessert - Low fat ice cream and aother coffee.

Must admit it's not always easy and since xmas day i have got off track a little by eating ALOT of junk

Weigh day today and i thought for sure i would have gained alot, but currently sitting at 59.3kgs (starting weight was around 72kgs)..

    All the best

what are some good post dinner snacks - or hints to stop post dinner eating. I enjoy eating once the kids are in bed and I can eat without interuption/sharing/having food rubbed all over me!

I love to snack after dinner aswell, this is my biggest problem. I usually have cruskits with tomato, or i will have chocolate mousse (the weight watchers one) or another coffee with some of those lite biscuits because that is quarnteed (sp?) to fill me up.

I'd be interested to know about this aswell, because i don't have many ideas for a healthy snack. Sorry!

I'm an after dinner snacker too, these are some of the things I usually have

Small bowl of air popped popcorn, good for the crunch factor.
Frozen banana blended with a dash of milk, comes out like icecream!
Weight watchers drinking chocolate with half water half skim milk.
1 of those diet chocolate mousses.
    Low calorie jelly
Fruit with low calorie whipped cream

I have a major sweet tooth so these options work really well for me!

I'm big on after dinner snacking too, I find cleaning my teeth straight after dinner helps me to stop. There are healthy options though as pp's have mentioned so as long as you're snacking right I don't see the problem. I'll often have a bowl of cut up mango and nectarines to pick at, or popcorn if I want savoury

I find the best after dinner snack for me is a banana and a handful of almonds, and maybe a glass of warm milk to wash it down. Otherwise, a yoghurt with a bit of toasted muesli for crunch mixed in.

Wow that's awesome. How long did it take you to lose?
I have also cut out everything you mentioned (except for the bread, I've switched to multigrain.. I love my toast!) and almost 5 days in and I have already lost a kilo! I have weighed myself afew times already today as I just can't believe this stuff works, lol.
I filled the cookie jar for DH and DS today and damn it was HARD not touching a single Monte Carlo! And no booze for me tonight, even though it's NYE!

Tonight's dinner will be grilled skinless chicken breast with honey soy marinade, baked pumpkin, peas and corn. Yum!I'm actually enjoying this dieting business! Should have done it ages ago.

I love lychees for an after dinner treat, they are sweet and refreshing when cold from the fridge... plus they take forever to peel, so your hands are busy doing something too, and after peeling and eating for 20 minutes you have still only eaten 5 lychees!
