Default What to use on baby's cot?

I just bought a cot set. It says it comes with a cot comforter. Is this a different name for a quilt or is it different? I know you don't use a quilt until they are at least a year old.

I know cot bumpers are considered unsafe but can you use them later on or are they always unsafe?

    As PP said, it's a quilt/doona.

My DS is nearly 16mths and still in a sleeping bag - he moves all over the cot so a blanket is no good for him yet!

I think cot bumpers are safe once babies are old enough to roll around easily. I personally still don't use the matching ones I have, as I don't like the idea of DS breathing in to them.
