Just off topic but why are single parents always though of as poor, most I know work in good jobs, are good at money management and are doing ok. Some are struggling but so are alot of married couples. Sorry just had a moment of irritation lol.

Waterloo is hardly Bellevue Hill though? Sure, it's up and coming but just because Danks St is all very 'cafe lifestyle' doesn't mean everyone there is rich.

I would have been asking the same questions about a married couple as I am noticing ALOT more a seemingly rich poor if that makes sense?

I think too the other thread about how much people earn has pointed out to me what I've thought for awhile

" Exactly how on earth are people getting by?? "

    Financially I mean?

There might not be an ex-partner, she could have widowed.

My cousins were left "homeless" (luckily were able to move into their grandparents but wasn't the ideal situation) after my uncle died suddenly and my aunt (who is a sahm) was unable to meet the mortgage repayments (nice house, nice suburb) because there was no income. Her going back to work wasn't an option because she would barely make enough to cover childcare let alone everything else.

    you don't know people's situations.
