Default Smith Family & receiving charity

I'm just curious about other people's opinions as my initial thought isn't favourable.

A single parent, community worker, 3 kids, lives at Waterloo receives support ( including Xmas presents ) to raise her children.

    What are your thoughts?

I don't understand this op at all. Charities have said that an increasing number of working families are turning to charity, let alone single parents.

What am I missing? Is there some reason a single parent to 3 kids shouldn't get support? Community support workers aren't well paid.

Community support workers are paid less than maccas workers (I have learned that thanks to sassymummy's thread!)
What an amazing woman to have a low paying job in the community sector supporting people less fortunate, and also raise 3 children solo.

My first thought is that Waterloo is an expensive area to live ( negative thought )2nd thought was she does work ( positive thought )& my third thought was is this common now. ( negative thought )

For example how many families really are struggling? All looks rosy from the outside looking in but if things like Xmas are a struggle how did it get to this?

How many families are stretched to breaking point???

my thoughts...good on her for accepting help and also giving back by way of her work.

our world needs to function on giving and receiving and people working to their strengths..and accepting back in return so they don't break themselves.
