Default Lynn Burmeister Monash IVF - feedback wanted please

    Hi Ladies,
Update so far... When I was at MIVF I was on 225mg of gonal-f but ended up with OHSS, so this time Lynn started me on 150mg to avoid me getting sick - everything was going great, had my scan on CD6 & my nurse said everything is textbook! Continued jabbing & came in 2 days later on the Monday, to be told things were no longer looking good & there was a chance my cycle would be cancelled.... Received the call from the nurse that Lynn had decided to cancel as I'd be lucky if I even got 2 eggs collected. I was devastated! They also advised me to trigger that night, have sex for 4 days & use the crinone (just in case we caught an egg naturally).
Lynn called me the next day & advised this decision was made because she didn't want us to waste our money as she knew at my age I could do so much better in terms of egg numbers. So she advised me of the plan going forward, 275mg of gonal-f with close monitoring & we can lower the dose if need be, she will also add in LH injections which I've never had & she is hoping for a much better response! 😊 Regardless of my poor response & cancelled cycle, I'm happy with Lynn & still have full confidence! She wants to get things right & not just rush you through...

Forgot to mention my nurse said I couldn't stim till match after the cancelled cycle as they don't allow back to back cycles - when Lynn called she said it was totally okay to start next cycle 😊
    So waiting for AF

    Will keep you updated

Oh, Martcc, I'm so sorry your cycle has been cancelled. I did a PGD cycle last year that resulted in all embryos being abnormal and my transfer has been cancelled. I was devastated, but picked up the pieces a lot quicker than going through the 2ww and get the bad news then. if the cycle isn't going well I think it is best to cancel it when you did to spare the emotions and $$$. It seems that Lynn has a good plan for you. It is very encouraging to hear she's throwing in the cycle LH and trying different stuff. I've never used LH and will be interested to see how you go with that. Keep us posted.

AFM, my appointment is coming close, look forward to it.

    Good luck!

Yep, agree about not spending all that money!

What date is your appointment? Is it with Lynn?

My appointment is on the 14th Feb, I'll be seeing Lynn. How long does it take to get all the paperwork sorted to set me up as a patient?

It's quite quick if you've done IVF before & have a current child protection & police checks, if you don't have these already I suggest you get them started NOW, you cannot start your appointments without it! They can take up to a month to organise (think mine were 2/3 weeks)

Call their main number explain you have an appointment with Lynn in the 14th but would like to her the ball rolling. They can email you & send you out the forms you need. Think they can set you up a patient ID and everything too!

Lena because you are swapping from MIVF you have to do the counseling again etc. give them a call and book the counseling appointment and any other appt needed. You can take the original police certs with you. You also need to see finance again. Won't take too long.

Hi Guys, I thought I would pop in and say hi. I have been a long time stalker of these forums but have never had the courage to write anything until I came across this thread and read your first post lena78. Gee I felt like I was reading about myself. Seems like you and I are definitely in the same boat.
I too was at MIVF for 2.5 wasted years. 6 cycles, 1 BFP then miscarriage at 10 weeks with no answers. So a few months ago we made the decision to change. Change FS and clinic and now we are at Monash with Lynn. From what I can see so far, she is very thorough and very knowledgeable. In the last 2 months she has done ever test and procedure under the sun and now I have some answers eg NK cells, slightly abnormal thyroid function, possible coeliacs. These things were never done at MIVF (we are doing IVF due to MFI, so they didn't even think that MAYBE they should test me too!!) My old FS was just happy for us to throw more and more money into cycles without trying anything new unless I pushed. When I asked him why IVF wasn't working and asked about getting testing done he said I was being silly, I was fine and that I was just too stressed to let anything happen. I should have left then and there but did one more with him before we woke up!
So enough with the ranting- I wish you all the best with Lynn and if you want to have a chat or debrief about it all- I am all ears. Looks like we may be cycling together. Lets hope 2013 is the year our babies make their way back to us.

Beta- Thanks for all the great advice- will be doing some reading I think.
