Default Lynn Burmeister Monash IVF - feedback wanted please

    Hi guys,

I've done 6 stim cycles to date at MIVF, 4 with one specialist and 2 with another at Melbourne iVF . I had a success on our 4th attempt, but later miscarried (a baby boy with normal aneuploidy). I haven't had a success since. I'm exhausted and wonder if this is ever going to work for us. I've been stalking the many threads on BH for inspiration, but it seems that after yet another failed cycle this isn't enough anymore.

I have now made an appointment to see Lynn, who is meant to be the best IVF or one of the best IVF doctors in Melbourne. I would love to hear feedback from any of her patients, in particular from those that have been successful with her after failing many times elsewhere.

I am 34, have elevated NK cells, mild PCO, have been treated for Asherman's, mild endometriosis, poor egg quality, AMH >30, so plenty of eggs but not quality one. My hubby has MFI, treated with ICSI.

Default Lynn Burmeister Monash IVF - feedback wanted please

Hi Lena, I've been to one appointment with Lynn. As I was moving clinics and was going to change to Lynn when cycle number four worked. I found Lynn fantastic, very thorough with testing etc which is what I wanted. I have heard nothing but great things about Lynn. There is also another FS Dr Nick Lolatgis who is very highly regarded also with Monash.

I also suggest you find the Melbourne thread and ask away in there, I know for a fact quite a few see Lynn and quite a few see Nick. All the best

She is absolutely fantastic. Known if "anyone can get you there, she can". I wasted time money and emotions with 3 other specialists before going to Lynn, having a proper fertility work up (by where she found 4 significant problems) I'm now 37 weeks after first cycle with her. My sister had same success. This dr will get results.

By the way, if you want any further info let me know. My egg quality improved significantly with Lynn's regime as well as a few other things I did. My 2 day embryos died with other specialists, my cycle with Lynn resulted in 5 day blasts, 100% fertilization rate, despite male factor infertility, NK cells, no eggs, antinuclear antibodies etc! Anyway, I wish you all the best for 2013 and really hope you have success with Lynn if you choose her.

Lyn is FANTASTIC! I saw her for recurrent miscarriage and fertility issues. She is so proactive. After being fobbed off by two ob's she was right in there, ordering tests and a laproscopy. She found out I had endo (after other obs said I didn't have it) cleared it out and cysts in my tubes, and I got preg 4 months later (would usually take at least a year). When dh was diagnosed with cancer, she organised sperm banking right awsy so he could start chemo.

    Hi Beta,

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and mummy to be! I hope you have a smooth delivery and meet your gorgeous bub very soon.

Thank you so much for getting back to me, I was hoping to hear from someone like you. It gives me hope that one day I'll get there. I wish I knew earlier what I know now and wouldn't be wasting time, money and emotions...

I really do hope Lynn gets me over the line, otherwise I won't know where else to go . After having a laporoscopy and hysteroscopy and have been cleared of adhesions, endo and a cyst, have no immune issues other than NK cells, it seems that all I need at present is an improved egg quality that will give me the healthy embryos.

I would love to hear what regime she put you on and for how long to improve the egg quality if you don't mind. I can't send you a PM as I don't qualify yet on BH, but feel free to PM me if you prefer it that way...

    Hi lena78
I'm excited for you, I'm sure she will get you over the line, not very useful to hear until it happens though. I made myself go on a 3 month break after failed cycles. i went on a sugar free diet (sugar can mess with your hormones and i ate far too much of it), i changed to an organic diet, cut out caffeine, did acupuncture weekly and took Chinese herbs. I saw a brilliant Chinese doctor who specializes in fertility and he hoped Lynn would also put me on DHEA as he has seen egg quality improvement which she did without me even mentioning it. DHEA has mainly anecdotal evidence but Lynn says she's seen some good results. I took that for 3 months before starting my cycle with Lynn. For the first time at pick up I had 5 eggs which doesn't sound like many but for an AMH of 2.1 it's very good. They were all excellent quality and the embryologist was so excited at their quality she said our chance of pregnancy and twins was 60%. We freaked out and only put one back. Lynn then put me on a number of support drugs until 3 months. Some of which are controversial but they worked for me and I had no side effects mainly I think from taking the Chinese medicine. Obviously alternative medicine is not for everyone but I read a lot of research and my sister also had 2 success stories with ivf and Chinese medicine. My sister also conceived with Lynn at 44 after all other FS gave up and told her she was too old.
There was another lady on here who had 2 successes with Lynn both first cycles after many years of trying. Have a look for more threads on Lynn. The other thing I think that helped me was the nurse that worked with Lynn. I'm a nurse and unfortunately us nurses tend to be a bit judgmental so I get stressed if I don't trust my clinicians. Lynn's nurse was great and I felt positive throughout the cycle. The other thing with Lynn, it's one thing getting pregnant, it's another thing getting to 12 weeks. That support is part of her medication regime which I did not get with other FS. I had a thin endometrium lining which she provided hormones to thicken, every other cycle would have resulted in miscarriage even if I did get pregnant. I stupidly went to MIVF to begin with because it was closer than monash, if I had of just gone to Lynn straight up maybe I would have had success sooner without the anxiety and waste of money etc. Lynn also found problems with DH sperm which was not picked up before. She did HA ICSI with us which is $300 extra than ICSI but crucial to use with bad sperm.
There is a DHEA thread on BH, I found it very useful to read all the posts.
    Any more questions do ask!
    I hope 2013 is your year x

I just re-read your post... The MFI needs as much special care as do your eggs, so hopefully HA ICSI would work for you guys.
I'm very sorry to hear of your road, I really wish you all the best. Compared to me you are a spring chicken so hopefully all will work for you ASAP.
