Default How much do you earn per hour? What industry are you in?

When I worked FT before having kids I earned $55 an hour. It was salary but I rarely worked outside work hours so it was a pretty genuine $55. I got super and leave loading on top of that. I was a manager in the public sector (insurance).

When I am able to take up my most recent qualification I can earn around $55-$85 an hour. I studied for 5 years to do my qualification and that included working full time at the same time. My trade is undervalued. Especially when I make items that would be used in 99.9% of households everyday!

I havn't worked since I was 19. My only full time job was a hospitality traineeship that earnt me $6 an hour.

I went back to TAFE this yr while pg to #3 and did a Cert III Business Admin. I'm hoping to go back to pick up the Medical and Legal subjects; then hopefully when I'm ready to leave my children by day will finally experience having a 'real' job! I'd love to be a Legal PA at some point and if I can might even go back to study law.

I find the thought of working very nerveracking as most of my adult life I've just been mummy, and I also get anxiety that I won't find it easy getting a job or settling in and doing well enough.

My DH is in Retail, he's an 'Optical pre tester/dispenser' for a very large franchise. They've given him training and certificates in 'Optical assistance' which he can use as a pre-requisit for uni if he wants to study Optomitry, which he's thinking about. Atm he earns 18'ish ph full time and I earn nothing just the FTB and PPP at home with three munchkins, so we're relatively poor atm, but I'm loving my time with them.

Medical scientist on $33/hr plus overtime, on-call and super. I'm in the private sector so the pay is lower and we don't get perks including salary sacrificing.

With the mining jobs sometimes It's the long hours not always the hourly rate that give you the high income. My DP makes about $120 an hr (but thats working as an environmental consultant) I think but he works 11 hrs a day, 28 days straight that's how it adds up. A lot if mining jobs are a regular hourly rate, but the hours add up when you are working fifo so most of the wages are over 100k a year.

I was working as a market research executive for two yrs (writing and monitoring customer satisfaction surveys) and I was only earning $18 an hour. I have 2 bachelor degrees, so it was really demoralizing. I ended up quitting after they said I'd never get a pay rise.
