Question Tell me about the language capabilities of your 2 year old

I want to get an idea of the language capabilities of other people's children. My DS had/has a significant speech delay and he's the only comparison I have. DD (who was 2 on Tuesday) was saying words at 18 months that DS wasn't saying at 3.5. Tonight after dinner she said "I got sauce on my top, oh no, what are we going to do?" which I thought was rather impressive!

I realise this isn't scientific, I"m just curious.

She can count to 10 but I'm not sure if she undersatnds the application of numbers. She will tell me her name when asked and say "2" when I ask how old she is.

DS is the same, he was a really early talker, sung the alphabet song by 20 months, counts to 15, knows his name, age and birthday, now at 26 months you can have a normal conversation with him , now he just won't stop talking! Because of Dora he can count to ten in Spanish!

DS is 21 months and only says single words. No sentences at all but can understand a LoT of what we say to him. He doesnt know his age but counts 1 2 3 and tries to sing the abc song.

First words emerge around 12 months, two-word combos around 15-18 months, short sentences by 2 years and talking like an adult by 3yrs generally.
These are typical ages, all children are different and most develop speech and language within a range of months, not bang on a certain age. Any concerns should be followed up with a speech pathologist
