How early can a dating scan be done? I had been on the pill so my dates are a bit odd but I place myself about 4 weeks, 3 days. No morning sickness yet, just tired. The dr has given me a thing to get a dating scan, but wouldn't it be too early?

I think they generally like to do them between 7-8 weeks but I could be wrong. Maybe give the ultrasound place a call and ask.

My OB doesn't want to see me until my 7th week. I thought they were usually done around that mark as before it might be hard to see a heartbeat before. Maybe your dr thinks you're further ahead?

We were very uncertain about dates when I had mine done.

I went in thinking I was 6w5d and when I got there they said I was only 5w3d. It was too early to see much and I had to go back 2 weeks later.

Based on that I would say they wouldn't usually do one until around 7 weeks.

Around 8 weeks is best. I had my first one a bit earlier this time, at 6.5 weeks, luckily by saw a heartbeat but it's not always the case.

Better to hold off because even though everything may be ok, the not being able to see much may stress you out

Off topic just a bit but I saw an episode of I didn't know I was pregnant where the woman had a bit of a bleed so went to hospital. As she was only a few weeks along they couldn't see a heart beat and hold her she had miscarried. Long story short 35weeks later she unexpectedly went into labor with the said baby

I had my dating scan done at 6 weeks and 3 days. They had to do an internal though, which really wasn't as uncomfortable as I expected it to be! :-) Could see a little heart beat, which was very exciting.
