Default Listeria Outbreak in Five States

Well a big fat "I told you so" to all the ladies who brag about eating no-no foods during pregnancy.

Wow, yeah. If a pregnant woman has a car accident, is it her fault for leaving the house?? Everything comes with inherent risk.

Just a question about ham. We have been given a whole leg ham for Christmas. Is there anyway I can make it safe to snack on??

Edit: I'm a super worry wart about it. I was just wondering.

I honestly couldnt give a sh!t what other pregnant women eat or do during their pregnancies. One woman I work with ate a sushi platter and other got a roast chook and premade salad for dinner...good for them. I kept my mouth shut and just smiled and nodded. They know the risks...its their child...its their choice what they eat/do.....I know the risks...its my child and my choice what I eat/do.

I hate when people either tut tut others for eating no-no food or roll their eyes at people taking precautions. Gives me the sh!ts. Maybe its just hormones talking but its not their life. In everyday life we take precautions to stay safe from possible dangers (eg. looking both way before crossing the street), so why do people make such a huge deal about others precautions when pregnant?

Personally I suffer from stupid anxiety and panic attacks over absolutely nothing....its easier for me to avoid the "no-no" foods than eat them and deal with the following panic attack over what I MAY have just done to my baby.

Big difference in the risks involved...
How often do you hear doctor advising against a pregnant woman driving? Versus a pregnant woman eating soft cheese/soft serve etc?

Actually car accidents are one of the leading causes of stillbirth in Australia.

A quick google of 'pregnancy car accident' will bring up dozens of news articles in the past year.

And how many of us avoid rockmelons during pregnancy?
Listeria can be present in many foods. You aren't safe even if you stick to the guidelines.

Again, is not being able to control what happens a reason to disregard everything and do what you want? Maybe....for YOU. No need to make others feel bad for choosing to follow certain guidelines or suggestions.
