Another vote for your gp being a complete twit... There are loads of reasons to have a dating scan, also called an early pregnancy scan, and the later you leave it the less accurate it is. I'd be seeing someone else... Ps, if this one is sticky, ill be due sept 5th, but my first was a week early so anything could happen lol.

Afternoon everyone :-) I totally take my hat off to you ladies that have done IVF... I couldn't imagine the stress and fear. Bright positive days ahead though :-) sooo it seems the cramping is very normal for 4 weeks.. I had to demand a date scan at 7-8 weeks with my doctor with the one I lost in April. Lucky I did because I got to 11 1/2 weeks without it passing naturally with no signs of mc. Had to have a D&C. I would tell your doctor you want one and that's what's going to make you feel less stressed.. Stress is bad for the baby so you need to do whatever makes you the happiest and most comfortable, doesn't matter what other people do or say.

Bon - exactly the same happened to me with my first pregnancy. I then lost 3 more. Had my daughter 30th December last year and then lost another a couple of months ago There is no way on earth I'm not having an early scan this time too if it lasts long enough!!!!

Hi ladies I'm 5 weeks 4 days pregnant through IVF - 4th round was our lucky one have a dating/viability scan booked for 4 Jan...so really looking forward to that. Currently just feeling really nervous about miscarrying...have been peeing a lot and been hungry and have occasional cramps. Know this might sound silly, but really would like a bit of morning sickness to make me feel pregnant! After almost 5 years trying it just seems like its not real - feel so lucky

I had my dating scan on Christmas Eve, saw the heartbeat and everything and it still doesn't feel real. I have had minimal symptoms, besides being tired and saw boobs, but the further i get along the quicker I feel nauseous when I wake up in the morning. When I had my dating scan, I had to drink the litre of water and since it was the first thing I had, I ended up throwing it up.

I'm due 5th August! Am 8 weeks this week. My nausea is starting to calm down this week, which is a relief. Am still very sleepy though.

Hope everyone had a great christmas. I spent mine repeatedly politely declining masses of seafood and alcohol. Also ended up getting engaged on the weekend and, to be honest, am feeling quite overwhelmed with two major things happening at the same time.
I had some cramping early on but that seems to have settled. Not sure if I'm 'showing' or not, I'm only about 7 weeks. I certainly have a huge gut but I think that's more food than baby
Took the day off work today as am feeling really tired and low level nausea, just really needed a rest. Had a tiny bit of brown discharge yesterday, kind of like the remnants of a period, but nothing since then, so hopefully everything is ok.
I did end up going to a different G.P. who was happy to give me pathslips for a blood test and dating scan. I'll be having my dating scan on monday. Also booked in for my first OB appt on the 21st.
