DS (8yrs) gets 1 present from Santa which is wrapped in different wrapping to the rest of the gifts (normally generic green and red wrapper to make it stand out from our purple and silver wrapping) and its under the tree in the morning. We did a stocking filled with 'junky' cheap toys when he was much younger but phased that out over the years.

Default ** Christmas Fluff ** Santa sacks or stockings?

Neither, we have miniature knitted stockings on our tree for everyone, that we fill with trinkets/jewellery/money (depending on age)

Neither. Just a few presents left at the end of the bed.

Personally, I loathe santa sacks. Something about the 'fill 'er up' mentality of it just really grates on me. And I've only ever see people fill them with cheap shiz. Surely one quality present is better than 25 reject shop pieces of rubbish?

Sorry. Xmas makes me cranky, and im already in a foul mood!

This our first Xmas with a child and Im in heaven filling his Santa sack. I've got some toys and books in there. In the future we will give him a big pressie from us and then books and other necessities from Santa. I like the idea of my kids knowing that we worked hard to buy presents for them so we will take credit for the more expensive items. I don't and won't fill the sack with trinkets or junk, they will be presents my kids will want or need. I think next year I will get stockings as well, I've always liked them over the mantle piece. I get sucked in but only because I missed out on happy Christmas' as a child. I just want to spoil my kids with love
