    Default 12 Week NT Scan

Hi I was wondering about the NT scan. I can't get into my doctor until the week after Christmas but was wondering if you could go and see any doctor and request a referral for one? I am going home for Christmas and my plan was to take a copy of the ultrasound as a present for my family to announce our pregnancy. I haven't been back to my doctor since she referred me to my for my date scan and blood test (which I haven't been able to get yet, been too sick to leave the house!) and the earliest I can get in isn't until after I get back. Thanks ladies

This is also depending on if I can get in for an ultrasound early enough. Last time they booked me in for lunch time the next day so fingers crossed they are not too booked out

    Hi!
    Congratulations!
I went to a local GP (not my usual doctor) for a pregnancy test and got the referral for the 12 week scan then so I think any doctor can give you a referral for it, it may depend on the area you are in though.
You may already know but with the 12 week scan you need to have a blood test about a week or 2 before the ultrasound (my hospital did this) i cant remember the exact timing of the blood test as my baby is 7 months old and due to mummy brain i cant remember as well!!
The blood test did need to be done before the ultrasound though so maybe just keep that in mind if you needed it done before christmas
Good Luck and congrats on your new bub'
    Xx

The blood test is a minimum of 48hrs prior to the scan, Some scan places though try to get your to do it 7 days prior. Its not a major deal if you dont get it done on time, Just means you wont get your result at the scan ... They can ring you a few days later with the result if your blood work is late.

As for the scan. Id be booking in now even without the referral. I booked mine weeks prior to getting the letter to secure the date I wanted

Yep. You can go to any dr for a letter but, Id try to keep it within the same medical practice. Or explain to the Dr you want the results going to your "usual" Dr otherwise when you mix Dr's etc your normal Dr wont have access to the results. (They can request them from the Scan place but its just easier).

Seems each scanning place is different. Mine did scan and bloods on same day, and results were at Drs 2 days later.
Also the local radiography place I had my dating scan don't do NT scans.
Def worth calling around to try and get in somewhere before Xmas.

    Default 12 Week NT Scan

I had to book mine last minute, on Friday! was able to go in same day but opted to go in tomorrow because I needed a GP referral and had to get that first.
they do bloods same day & full results 2 days later. I'm already 12+5 so just on the cut off.
check around if you can find a bulk bill imaging centre, more likely to be open over the holidays x
