Default What is this? Rash? Eczema?

Apologies for the poor quality photos, it's hard trying to get DS to stay still!

CHN said DS has eczema, because he has dry itchy skin in his elbows and behind his ears.

I forgot to get her to have a look at his tummy which has these bigger red marks...

My partner and I don't have eczema so I'm not sure if it's normal or not?

He does get itchy and tries to scratch his chest and tummy, but otherwise he doesn't seem too bothered.

    TIA for your help!

I'm not familiar with what eczema may look like but I would probably get a dr to check him over. I'm careful with any sort of rash.

Looks like eczema to me. You need a steroid cream to start with, aldo use Aveeno 3 times a day everyday & QV oil for the bath. That's what we recommend at our dermatology practice.

I'm a long time eczema sufferer and to me that looks like it could be eczema, albeit reasonably mild. I've spent my life covered head to toe in it and its not fun! That may even be a heat rash, has it been hot where you live? He may have also had a reaction to a food, pet or something environmental (have you recently changed washing powder etc). My suggestion would be to bathe him in QV wash then moisturise with QV cream. Avoid any perfumed bath washes. If it gets worse or starts to bother him you may need a steroid cream.

I hope it clears up soon eczema is awful to live with.

I was about to suggest the same as Chippa as it looks like a heat rash on his tummy which is quite common. Chances are he has both....heat rash and eczema.

All my kids had eczema as babies and as they got older (probably 12 months) they grew out of it.

QV stuff is great but if its bad now you can get a very mild steroid cream over the counter to stop it from being so itchy then you can take care of it from there with moisturising, etc.

Yeah it started out as heat rash, then it got really dry and flakey, and I've been using QV moisturizer and it seems to be working on the dryness, but I wasn't sure if these red spots were part of it too.

I've heard how horrible eczema can be so I hope he grows out of it.

I'll try to get him to the dr too.
