I dont understand how asking about child care is discrimination??

I was asked at my interview if my child was in school, if I had back up plans for if she was sick and what the deal was with school holidays. I think they are fair questions, esp for a small business.

It relates to family responsibilities which is a protected ground of discrimination. I posted a link earlier.

If the company is not comfortable and supportive of you being a family woman, maybe not the best company to be applying to work with. I know that doesn't reduce your disappointment,or even make it ok that they asked but just my opinion.

I went for a second interview with a company when i was returning to work and they wanted me in that day and I had no childcare options, so they said for me to bring my then 9 month old in....yes it was a professional private company & professional role.
