    ...Malakai???
This is probably the only name DF has actualy seemed to like. It has been on my list for years but im not 100% sure I actualy want to use it.
Our DS1 is Kaiden which is the reason why I prefer that particular spelling for Malakai.
Just wondering what other think of the name.

My friend named her son Malakai and I have another who named her son Alakai. Personally I don't like them, they're also on the 'Bogan baby names' list (fob sent it to me and said Im not allowed to choose any names off it. To be fair the list is huge and incorporates a fair few names that I don't think are bogan but the spelling is iykwim)

I think it's a nice enough name although I wouldn't be using it unless it was a name that suited my heritage.
It's kind of like calling your son Raphael if you're not European if you ask me. Just seems a bit odd *chuckle*.

Also, I'd be thinking you'd really want to like Kai because that's what it'd be shortened to.

LOL op me too! Bogan parent ftw haha

I agree Eko, though its entirely up to the individual. Dh is Fijian so I figure I can get away with a more exotic name and feel the alternate spelling will suit my baby better than the traditional

i'm not hugely fussed on the spelling either way to be honest, not sure which spelling DF prefers. I figure nickname wise he will either get mal or kai. Kai was actualy on my list for our DS1 but because i grew up in NZ i just couldn't bring myslef to name him that as kai in maori is food and i just couldn't shake that idea, but for some reason as a nickname it doesnt bother me.

I don't mind it. It seems to becoming quite common though.
