Default Our wedding is this Saturday and we dont have a song to walk down the aisle to yet!!!

Please guys I am in desperate need of help. We cant find any song that suits 'us' or that is good for walking down the aisle and we are running out of time!

I need a song that is slow paced but doesn't go for any longer than 4 minutes (I only have one bridesmaid and then it will just be me and dad walking down).

First we decided on Dream Catch Me by Newton Faulkner but decided it is too fast to walk to....and then we went with Iris by goo goo dolls (will we go back to this if we can't decide on anything else but Im just not really 'feeling' it if you get what I mean).

The song we REALLY wanted to have because it is a song that means something to both of us is Last Day on Earth by Kate Miller Heidke (my hubby to be told me when we first got together he used to listen to the song and think of me...we new each other in high school and hooked up a bit but then went our seperate ways but he wanted us to be together the whole time, not that he told me that until down the track!).
Anyway, the reason I am a bit iffy about the song is because today I showed my mum and she said it was a depressing! And then I looked up the lyric meanings and aparantly it is about loss and possibly a miscarriage that the singer had.
Hubby to be still wants the song but I if it is a depressing song I dont really feel comfortable walking down the aisle to it cause everyone will probably be thinking wtf?!

    Arghhh!!!

Any help and suggestions would be SO MUCH appreciated!!! Thank you!

I think you should go with the song you both love and has meaning to you. It won't be depressing at a wedding, the setting will change the vibe of the song.

Good luck on your special day! 😄

Fields of Gold by Eva Cassidy is what I walked to. I also had a small bridal party. It's 4 1/2 minutes but it cuts down nicely http://youtu.be/jDuye_qB-2o

If you really like the Kate Miller Heidke song, why don't you see if there is an acoustic version without the lyrics? I was bridesmaid at a wedding recently where they'd downloaded a piano version of lots of modern songs and it was fabulous.
That way you sort of get the best of both worlds ..

Congratulations by the way ... Have a fab day.

And whatever you decide, don't stress. I'm Scottish and my DH and I had a huge fight before our wedding because I wanted to be piped into the church with bagpipes and he hates them ... I won the argument, but the next day he asks why I decided not to have the bagpipes ... He didn't even hear them!

Hmm it's difficult because the song means something to you but if I was a guest and didn't know the song and heard the chorus of "it's the last day on earth" I'd feel like you didn't listen to the words before choosing it (because why would u want what the first day of your marriage to be your last day on earth) - just my opinion.

For what it's worth, I walked down to Love Me Tender by Norah Jones. No real significance, mum is a big Elvis fan so I've grown up with Elvis' music, but the main reason was coz I was running out of time and thought the song was pretty lol.

If you like newton faulkner, check out jason mraz

There's "lucky" and "i'm yours" and a few others that would be good wedding songs.

Also you could try find an acoustic version, they are often slower.

I just wanted to add that it doesn't matter what the song means to the artist, it only matters what it means to both of you.

In ten years time only you and your husband will really remember that moment and what was playing and with this song it will have an extra special meaning to both of you!

    Go for it!! 😄

We had the slow version of Heaven by DJ Sammy. It meant something special to us so we used it regardless of the meaning behind it.

I say use your special song. Nobody will listen to it anyway, they will be too focused on watching you walk down the aisle.

    Good luck with your decision!
