    Default Hospital stay

Anyone had a child in hospital? My 5 month old is in for eczema. Its only one night and he is settled now but most of the day he screamed. I have been an absolute mess and some of the treatments feel mean but I know they help.
How did you cope watching it all?

    Default Hospital stay

I'm sorry to hear about your son It's very difficult watching your little one in hospital. Has he got a comforter or teddy there with him? Even at 5 months old it can be comforting to have something familiar there. Even a lullaby or song that you usually sing to him. Cuddle and rock him whenever possible and talk to him constantly.

The screaming can be almost unbearable. My eldest had an operation as a baby and when he woke up in hospital he was so disorientated and screamed for ages, it was heartbreaking and I felt very helpless. I just cuddled and rocked him.

When my youngest was in hospital, he was very, very sick so hardly moved or made noise...which I think was just as difficult to watch. We weren't sure if he was going to make it and it's one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I highly recommend accessing the hospital social worker and psychologist to speak with them about it. Have you got support from family?

I tended to remind myself that they were there to get better and were in good hands. These things are so hard

    How did your night go?

My youngest has been in hospital a few times, the worst times were when he had RSV at 8-9 weeks and then when he had Rotavirus at 15 months old. It is so hard seeing them sick and even though hospital is the best place for them, it can be very stressful for bub and for you.

I hope your night wasn't too bad xo

We are in for another night. He was really good last night. He was up 4 times but 2 were for the nurse to do her stuff. He is not a fan of the long treatment but he is a brave little man. Im much calmer now. The first day i just cried whenever I talked to the drs or nurses. Lol I think they thought I was crazy. Thanks for the replies ladies.
