Seriously, the lenient sentencing in this country is bull$hit.

How on earth, can someone who has violently bashed a woman in front of her 8 year old son receive a MAXIMUM of 10 years and 3 months.

It's a disgrace, it needs to change.

I agree it's absolutely disgusting! when someone is done for tax evasion or similar they get a far heftier sentence but when it's human life that is taken or destroyed through the likes of murder or rape, the perp has to serve very little in the way of time in comparison.

Just fixed my OP. I agree with life - it was pre-meditated and shamefully violent. People like this can't be fixed IMO.

And that's the problem with the sentencing in this country. That you can commit acts like this and be out in around 10 years. Recent cases in Melbourne have shown that persistently violent criminals who get out re-offend.

Do the prisons offer any rehab or counseling here or do they just lock them up and throw away the key? This guy obviously needs psychiatric help putting him in jail for 10 years prob wont help and he may even be more violent when he gets out so prison isnt the right place for him a hospital with help would be better.
