Default Re: Can your 4yo write?

My son was in pre-prep this year, started at 3.5 yrs old. He couldn't write his name when he started but after a few weeks of going he got the hang of it. However there are a few kids who still don't know how to write their names despite being almost a year older than him so I think it's different for everyone

Thanks, ill try not to worry myself. I have started introducing the letter S, the first letter of her name but she seems to do it backwards. We'll see though.
Don't worry about her doing it backwards. It will come. My DD has a Y and a H in her name and they looked around the wrong way until about 1/2 through her prep year (this year).

DDs teachers never corrected her. Eventually she just started doing them correctly. She still does an S around the wrong way every now and then.

Encourage and praise the effect she has done. We got a letter home this week that ALL early writing and spelling efforts should be praised over the holidays to keep them interested for grade 1.

Your DD is doing great! It will come when she is ready.
