Default First Xmas As A Family Ideas?

So normally xmas eve and xmas day consist of driving to relatives houses for dinner and lunch and not really spending xmas at home. this year we have my DP side of the family xmas next week (which we normally do xmas eve) then on the 23rd we have xmas with my side of the family (which we normally do xmas day)
so this means we actually have a xmas day just the 3 of us and I want to make it special but I dont know how to. Our DS is 22 months old. so just wondering what others do for there xmas? do you do anything big or just do xmas in the morning and a "normal" day after that?

Default First Xmas As A Family Ideas?

What about starting some traditions of your own for your little family? Watch a Christmas movie, have a special breakfast, a picnic out somewhere...whatever you like!

Last year was the first xmas day we spent at home by ourselves in 6 years!!
We're the same, we normally travel around to everyone's house, but last year, we basically said stuff it, let's stay at home for a change, DS has never had xmas day at home since he was born.

So we started with a nice sleep in , then we opened our pressies all together in the lounge room, followed by a bbq breakfast. Mid morning we had a swim, then lounged around the house doing nothing, watching dvds. No house work, no garage stuff for DH then we went to the beach in the afternoon and just walked the esplanade, and a picnic later on.

It was so nice to be able to do that for a change and we loved it.
So this year we are doing the same again!

This will be our first Christmas at home with just us 3 and nowhere to go. We are going to have a cooked breakfast (bacon eggs tomatoes etc.) then Im going to make some Christmasy picky food/sweets for the day, easy assortment of fresh sandwich triangles for lunch and just bum around doing whatever we want like swimming and putting together the lego DS will be getting. Dinner is going to be a BBQ and salad.

I think the joy of being at home this year is to not have every part of the day micro managed and have forced fun. I think just enjoy the relaxation and enjoy your family

Last year we were just tb e three of us. We still did the usual ie seafood breakfast then turkey roll on weber s nd ham. The in laws came to visit a few days after Xmas so there was no worry about leftovers. I made a very basic salad and Dh and I shared a bottle of moet. We spent the day just relaxing and assembling ds Lego. We all had a sleep in the afternoon.
It was so lovely just us. We spent the day doing what we wanted but we still had Xmas food.
    Best Christmas ever
