My DHs family history traces back to Ned Kelly too!

I grew up with a famous Rugby Union player, great guy almost annoyingly so, he once threw a cricket ball at my shin and thought the bruise he left was 'magnificent'.

I had a conversation with an AFL player from around here by accident. I said slyly to DH "look its *insert player name*... no ones surrounding him because he plays AFL." DH half smiled then motioned to the player who pipes up, "No ones following you either," and smiles at us. I laughed, pointed at the kids and said "No need, made my own entourage." He did a tip of the hat motion and walked off. Occasionally we see him when its off season and he will sometimes tip his 'hat'.

Can't people say who they know instead of a famous singer say their name?

I'm very curious too, but I think it gives away a bit too much of your identity. Eg I recently became (distantly!) related to a very famous Australian celebrity by marriage, however if I said who it was there are many people who could figure out who I was... Iykwim?

My Great, Great (I think there might be another Great) Grandfather was Clancy Of The Overflow. My Granny met Banjo Patterson and he told her that it was indeed him that he wrote about :-)

Aaannnddd.... I am very, very, very distantly related to the Minogues!

My grandfather did our family tree and apparently my great great (etc) grandmother was a famous operah singer who was singing on stage one day...went off stage...gave birth to a baby...then promptly got back on stage again and kept singing.
