Default Anyone done CVS or amnio testing?

Hi! I am just wondering if anyone have done a CVS test or Amnio test; if so; did you do the cvs test before the NT scan?
Where and who is actually doing these tests? Any info or views would be great.
I am tossing up if I should do this or not, or possible do the NT scan and the blood test to see the calculated figures first before I decide.
My last baby angel had Trisomy 18 and obviously it worries me with this pregnancy.

    Endie

Default Anyone done CVS or amnio testing?

I had a baby with triploidy. It was first picked up at the 12 week scan.
I had both a CVS and an amino.
I have gone on since to have 3 healthy pregnancys.
Testing was offered to me for my own reassurance but the risk of having another chromosomal abnormality really doesn't increase just because you've had one previously.
I just had all the normal tests.

I've had an amnio done before. I would recommend going for the NT scan and see the figures and what your ob says. My figures for NT scan was normal. However at my 20 weeks anomaly scan they found some issues with bub's heart so I was asked to do amnio. I did mine at the women's ultrasound. The sonographer will be doing it and a doctor will talk to you about the scan results.
Usually if you have history of genetic abnormalities your ob will suggest going for CVS or Amnio. It's completely up to you what you want to do. I understand the worries as my amnio results came back with a genetic abnormality as well. However we decided to go on with the pregnancy and give it a chance but lost the baby at 36 weeks. With the current pregnancy, the way we decided whether to do CVS or Amnio all depended on the outcomes of the NT scan and 20 weeks scan. If nothing was detected for both tests then we skipped the 2 procedures. We didn't want to risk it if bub seems healthy.
Good luck and all the best to your pregnancy!

I had a cvs done after we had high risk results come back from the nt scan, and I'm so glad we did the test as it came back all clear and we could stop worrying. Personally I would have the nt scan done first and see what the risk rating is. I don't know how early they'll let you do the cvs but I had mine at 13 weeks, a week after the scan. I know that the earlier the cvs is done the higher risk the procedure is itself.

Wishing you all the best for good healthy results!

i just had my cvs today actually

skipped the nt scan altogether because the cvs will check for those things anyway. my daughter had a genetic disorder so we decided to go ahead early on because we need to be prepared

I'm 11w2d today - bub looked great before/during/after so I'm relieved. resting for a couple of days now

Thanks everyone for your input and sharing your stories.
I might just do the NT scan first and then take a decision if we should do any further tests.
    Thank you
