    To answer the OP (who is probably sh!t-stirring anyway with a question like that!), DD is only 16mo but no I don't think smacking will be happening here. I don't see how it could be considered productive.

    Ouch!! That sounds very painful!

    I got a couple open hand whacks on the bum, but not painful- if you know what I mean?
    I have no super strong feelings about it, but don't smack my kids, I feel like it would ruin the trust, and don't think it has a place where you expect mutual respect.
    I do think children need to discipline though.

    While I just had placid little DD, and would see kids hit parents/siblings I always thought-yeah right you don't hit your kids where did they see that behavior. Then DS comes along and regularly likes to give his sister a whack, every time I think hmmm serves you right for being judgmental!
