I don't believe in smacking in anger. Yes I have done it. But learnt to walk away and count to 10. I don't like the idea of it. Teaching kids not to hit by smacking them? But if dd2 is playing with power cords or whatever she will get the growly voice (which sure laughs at) several times. If that doesn't work and she keeps going back to them I smack my hand while saying "no.ouch" several times. Then I might follow through with a light slap on the back of her hand with "no. Ouch". I do that in the hope that she will associate dangerous things like power cords, heaters and ovens with the fright of a light slap, instead of electrocution or burns. But in anger? I don't like that.

No. I manage to discipline my kids without needing to smack them.
