    I smacked DD once as a reflex when she hit me hard in the head and it hurt like h*ll. She was horrified, we both cried, and I've never done it since. I think I had that reflex because I was smacked, slapped and hit as a child. My parents always smacked in anger and to me it signifies losing control and lashing out to hurt the person who has made you angry. Which doesn't teach or solve anything.
