Rolls of wrapping paper - why are they STICKY TAPED?? I always rip a new roll, without fail, trying to get that first bit unstuck.

I used to get in them. Get corner one in, then corner two in, then stand on the bed (cos I'm a shorty) and shake, shake, shake and hope corners 3 and 4 fall into place

That's how DP gets eggs out. And with minimal practise he can peel 4 eggs in 4 breaths total and a few seconds.

Does this really work?? (well if you say it does ). I'll have to try next time I peel eggs. I always tap the whole egg around on the bench and sometimes it works well, other times it doesn't. I wonder if it's the temp of the eggs, or the freshness.

    Will try this next time.

forgot to say - re: candy canes.

I always just snap them on an angle so that some of the wrapper is above the level of the candy cane. Means I can then peel the wrapper.

I've always been told never to boil a fresh egg as they are harder to peel. Eggs that are a week old are the best and easiest to peel apparently. But I think it depends on the thickness of the shell too.

Absolutely! Takes practice and you have to make sure you have a strong breath and a good seal on the top. But definitely. DP saw someone do it once and had to try. Now he won't do it any other way. And while I am there spending 10 minutes peeling, he is like 'pop pop pop pop' and they are all out.
