We call it a 'cheese toastie maker'. I'd never heard the word 'jaffle' until I moved to Australia. I'm guessing it's an Aussie word??

Same Girl X - I think it's definitely Aussie. I've also been told that its only the metal, camping style ones that are called jaffles and the ones you use at home are just toastie machines. Who knows!

In our family it was always called a 'toasted sandwich maker', but now we call it a sandwich press. I don't call it a jaffle maker, but have friends that do.

I always thought that jaffle irons were the ones that clamped the edges together... I still call them toasted sandwich makers though.
