Thanks GQ for the idea of taking up to date measurement shots!
I have been struggling a bit lately, not with doing my Zumba but more the mental games that go on in my head. Like a couple of the other girls have mentioned, as we get near the end of the competition i find myself dreaming about what i would do if i won but then the following conversation takes place:
The evil little voice in my head says "Of course you wont win, look at how well some of those other girls have done!"
Then my competitive side pops up and says "Yeah, but each of us came from a different starting point. Some of the girls hadn't exercised in years and you have always maintained at least a base level of fitness coz of your work, so of course their results are going to be bigger than yours!"
Then the cheerleader in me says "But I am soooo happy for each and every one of us in the challenge and to the girls that had so far to come, YAY that they have made those changes and YAY that they are doing so well!"
Evil voice & competitive voice then team up: "stop making excuses, you just need to work harder if you want any shot at winning"
Finally, level-headed wise voice steps in and says "It isn't about winning or losing. You are already a winner. By making it into the final ten you won an awesome Zumba pack and look at the results that you have achieved with it. Sure, there are a lot of things that you would do if you won the money (Thermomix, family vacation, finish the fence) but if you dont 'win' the challenge then you will still do all those things, they will just take a bit longer to achieve".
I sound a bit crazy, don't I?
Anyway, I have been trying to decide if i should share these thoughts or not but after reading some of the other girls having similar thoughts i decided to also share, if for no other reason than to say to those girls "You arent alone in how you are feeling!"
Here are my losses so far:
