Default My successful VBAC story :)

Birth of Lacey Maree 7lbs15oz 53cm HC 35cm

After a whole week of irregular contractions, bloody shows and exhaustion I finally went into established labour at 1:30pm Dec 1st 2012 at 40+5.
I'd been putting off the waves of period pain that had slowly intensified, thinking it was nothing.
Laying down on the lounge and trying to sleep I felt a weird pop! Waited but nothing so I stood up and a huge gush came.
Contractions then became 5 minutely and were intensifying but not unbearable.
It took half an hour to get ahold of my fiancé who was working and my Mum who was swimming so I was freaking out and running around the house trying to organise my 3 year old twins.
Finally Mum came and drove me to the hospital and Col arrived shortly after. On arrival I was almost 2cm dilated with a thick cervix, mid stretched me to the 2cm. Unfortunately there was a conference in Sydney which meant NO obstetricians were available and I would have to be transferred to a hospital almost an hour away.
The ambulance took almost an hour and by that time my contractions were 1-2 mins apart. Quick examination showed I was 4-5cm and cervix fully effaced already.
Ambulance ride was hell and all I wanted was Col who couldn't come in the ambulance.
Upon arrival I told the midwives this couldn't really be it and I knew it would be hours. I insisted on going to the toilet but just sat there and screamed. Got back to the bed and they asked me if I wanted to have her standing up, I said yes but thought it wasn't time. Legs went to jelly so I got back onto the bed and asked for another examination, they offered a bit of gas for that but took it off me because I was already 10cm after almost 3 and a half hours!
Col and the midwife then held one leg each and it was time to push. I kept telling them I couldn't possibly be ready to push.
It was hard! The MW gave me a mirror to watch but I couldn't concentrate on it. I started getting agonizing pain in between contractions that the MW's said was my c-section scar, little miss also had a few decels and they told me I needed to get her out now.
20 minutes and a few pushes later her head was almost out, they asked me if I wanted to feel which I did. So motivating! They put the mirror back and after another 10 minutes I watched myself pushing her out and being placed on my chest.
By far the most incredible thing I have ever done, am so overcome with emotion! I can't believe I actually did it and got my VBAC.
No tearing, a small graze and a booby feeding champion after 4 hours active labour with 30 minutes pushing.
    Completely inlove

    Edited for spelling errors!

    Congrats! What a wonderful story.

Sorry to hijack a lil but I'm also wide awake in awe that I had a VBAC today. Not as tidy and unscathed as yours (swearing, gas, pethadine, stitches hehe) but still... I'm a wee bit proud.
