I know I am super uptight about food but I would totally have a problem with it.

Default School taking kids to McDonald's for lunch--I'm dumbfounded!

Maccas doesn't = junk and bad eating though. Happy meals now can be a piece of grilled chicken with lettuce in a wrap, some sliced apple and water for a drink.

Ahhhh the good old days... Where maccas equals fun and a treat.
I have fond memories of eating maccas at school excursions.
Yet 15 years ago there was hardly any over weight kids.
I really don't think maccas is the problem.

I actually agree with the OP but I'm wondering if there are other considerations ie logistical / safety etc

LoL fair point haha not what I had in mind

When I was at school we always did subway on field trips if there was one. Our parents got a thing with paper work ticking white or wheat ham chicken veg or cheese, pretty simple. The chaperones ordered. I agree the alternative would be a nightmare lol

And we don't even know what the rest of the kids/their parents want to eat--were they consulted before this was decided? There maybe parents who are not happy with it. What is the school's excuse for taking the kids to maccas? A one-off? Why Maccas for a one-off?
Maybe these are questions you need to ask the school.
