Default amniotic fluid questions possibly TMI

how did you know that your waters broke? how was it different to thinking you just wee'd yourself?
Did you have any pain before they broke?
Was it clear liquid or a cloudy/white colour?
    Smell?

Im asking because sometimes i find a small amount of thick discharge in my undies with a pool of 'water consistancy' discharge around it. When i did my gbs swap this morning, white liquid was dripping out of me, it was very watery like. No offensive smell to it.
Ive had no pain, just a little achy in the lower vaginal area around to my bum. im 36 weeks.
    ??

Sounds to me like normal pregnancy discharge.

My hindwaters started leaking at 38+2, it was very watery and clear, smelled like semen (but it wasn't!).

There was no doubting it when mine broke - it felt like someone kicked my vagina, then like a water balloon popping and a massive gush of fluid. In my experience, you'll know!
