Default AF is back :-( what about my milk supply???

I'm totally gutted... Might be a little emotional but I feel like crying! I just got AF!!! DD is a week shy of 8 months, will this affect my milk? I am still breastfeeding tho not exclusively as she's started to eat one solids meal a day months ago so I don't understand why they came back now!!!
She's been fussy could this be why?
DH and I won't be using contraception as we want more children but how would getting pregnant affect my milk supply? I want to keep breastfeeding :-( ahhh so emotional right now!!

Please don't stress! I got mine back around 6 months but they didn't come back regularly. I didn't really find it affected my milk supply. Just keep going as normal. I fell pregnant when ds was 12 months while still feeding and with 4 weeks to go til bub is due he's still feeding. Since being pregnant it has affected my milk supply and at the moment there is just about nothing there but at this age I think its just for comfort. Ds doesn't seem to mind...not sure how he will feel about sharing though! I am not sure if he has continued because I have always offered the boob as a comfort when he's hurt or upset so its not just a food source for him.

Be prepared she may self wean but if you keep going as normal then she might not care about the changes. Also don't listen to doctors who might tell you you have to wean when you're pregnant because you don't have to! Every doctor I have been to all have been very negative about tandem feeding..don't listen to them! (or any friends and family for that matter!)

    Good luck!

Default AF is back :-( what about my milk supply???

I've had different experiences with all 3 of my boys, so I think it depends on the baby! With ds1 and 2 I got af back at 6 weeks regularly. They were a little fussy a few days before af but both continued feeding. Ds1 weaned at about 9 months when I fell pregnant, he flat out refused to feed before I even knew.. But that's not the case with all babies, a lot if people feed then tandem feed.

Ds2 self weaned at 11 months for no particular reason.

Ds3 is nearly 12 months and still going strong. I got af about 9 months but it's been all over the place. He gets a bit fussy and moody I the lead up (works well when we're both moody hehe) but it doesn't slow down his feeds...

Don't worry. My AF came back when both of my kiddies were 7.5 months old. My ds was BF til 12 months (self weaned) and my dd is 14 months and still BFing. I find that my supply drops off a teeny bit for the 24 hours before AF arrives but otherwise it's no big issue. Lots of women BF whilst pregnant too. Remember that AF stuffs up your emotions and being day 1 or 2 of your cycle now (I assume) means everything seems a lot worse than it really is

Default AF is back :-( what about my milk supply???

My AF came back when DS was about 8 months old too. I noticed he was quite fussy on the boob in the days leading up to getting my period and for a day or 2 after it started but then he settled down (have heard that it can change the taste of your milk). I have had no trouble with my supply and am still breast feeding my almost 11 month old DS. Oh and I fell pregnant that first cycle after AF came back so if you are not using any birth control..be careful!

I wouldn't worry at all, I am exclusively breast feeding (no formula) and my baby just turned 1 the other day. AF for me returned at 5 months (and back to regular too). Also my baby is still having 3-5 feeds a day (to date), so my supply hasn't dropped.

Thank you all so much for your replies, I feel a lot better today. Its good to know the reason why she's been so fussy lately, hopefully it'll all settle back to normal now.
The good thing is I feel (physically) good, I thought Id be sick for sure but I don't even have my usually backache that comes with AF

Im going to continue breastfeeding and Ill try not to think about the what ifs, really reassuring to hear ya'll kept breastfeeding AND some tandem feeding too!

PS sorry for the double posting i was using my iphone and it just posted the same thread 3 times!
