$1500 pedigreed Rottweiler with full papers (& vacc/microchipped) plus the flights to Brisbane to pick him up. Opted to go for the best we could find to reduce health issues.

$200 Border Collie X Kelpie from RSPCA (vacc/m'chip/desexed)

When DH & i first started dating, he had a pedigree champion boston terrier that he had imported from the USA - with import costs etc it ended up costing him over 15000 about 12 months into our relationship, it was hit by a car & had to be put down he had him for 5 years & he still gets teary about it, he got a massive portrait tattoo of the dog on his back.

The breeder we purchased off conducted interviews, let us meet and choose our pup then said she will call in 24hours to let us know if we were successful applicants!!!

Plenty of staffies looking for homes at no-kill shelters and the RSPCA. Maybe worth a look there OP?

Allymumtobe - I've been wondering for ages what breed your pup in the picture is! Looks a lot like our boy.

Alright, male German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). $1500. Registered breeder, limited papers. Had to desex him and microchip him.

I wouldn't go anywhere else again, our breeder is so lovely, she interviewed us to make sure we were suitable (GSPs are a real challenging handful until ~2 and have a high abandonment rate while young because people expect them to act like they would when they are 4-5 straight away!). She was so sad to see him go, asked if she could hold him on the way to the car when we picked him up and has since put a picture of our boy on her website. I can tell she really really cares for her dogs and puts everything into making good breeding choices, she's always happy to help with any questions I have too even after all this time. He's turned out to be the most wonderful intelligent pup, love him to bits!
